Fashion (and beauty) Faux Pas

Hello my honeybears!

Sorry for dropping off the face of the Earth for a while, I've been extremely busy and stressed to bits! I'm also full of a very bad cold or the beginning of flu so this post won't have pictures of me. Be pleased.

Instead I will tell you all about my top fashion faux pas that make me cringe like mad.

You ready? Here goes!

In at number 10 is....

Bras on show! By this I mean when people are wearing round neck tops and the edges of their bra or, in some cases that I've seen, half the cup being on show. Personally, I think it looks trashy, it's like stereotypical chav in my book. I don't see how it's sexy in the slightest, nor do I see how it's comfortable having that much breast exposed.

This topic takes me nicely onto my number 9

Wearing bras that are too small! I am a culprit of this *slaps hand* but it is normally because I'm too skint to afford nice, new bras so I make so (When you get over a DD, you can't find nice bras for a reasonable price). It looks horrible when you can see boobs spilling over the tops of the bra and pressing against a top or dress or when someone bends over and you can see their boobs are out of the bra. It's not nice at all.

At number 8, it is....

Band t shirts! Obviously, not all band t shirts but people wearing band t shirts when they don't know who the band is but they think the top is cool. I actually had a lovely experience in Topshop when they had just brought out their Fleetwood Mac tops. A girl behind me said to her friend 'Oooh, this tops's cools. I might get it. What is Fleetwood Mac? Who cares.' I'm sorry but I believe that you should have to be able to name at least 3 songs before you are allowed to purchase a band top. Hipsters, stop this madness.

Number 7...

Double denim! I know it's in fashion at the moment but I am not a fan. I only like it when it's say, black jeans and a light blue jacket. The same colour denim worn together makes me hate life a little. Dungarees are an exception of course but denim jacket/shirts/jeans/skirts (any of the combinations) worn together just don't sit right with me.

In at number 6

Not a fashion faux pas per say but Obvious roots! By this I mean when someone who's naturally light brown/blonde/redhead who dyes their hair black or someone with dark hair who dyes their hair blonde. The inevitable happens, your hair grows and then BOOM! The most obvious, minging roots ever. I just hate it, I honestly do. It's nothing against people who dye their hair those colours, it's just a case of trying to keep on top of your colouring so you don't end up with horrific roots.

Number 5

Top knots!  Whoever invented this hairstyle. You suck. It looks like their in a pineapple on your head! You look ridiculous. I know it might be a quick, out of the way hairstyle but seriously?! It's just stupid and I have tried it, when you have long hair, it actually hurts your neck because it is rather heavy. No one puts it better than the genius of Jenna Marbles!

Number 4!

Bodywarmers! Gilets. Whatever you call them. I don't understand them. It's my extremities that get cold first so who went 'Hey, you know what's a good idea? Cutting the arms off a padded jacket!' I get that it's safer to keep your core warm but I would like warm arms too please. They also make me think of the Michelin Man which puts me so far off them that I'd rather wear Michelin tyres instead of them.

The top 3!

So close but so far. Number 3

Onesies! I'm mainly talking about people that go outside in their onesies. I see them as safe, cosy and simply to be worn indoors whilst drinking hot drinks and watching crappy films. They are not for going outside, shopping. It looks like you've just forgotten to get dressed and I always worry that they haven't bothered to wash before. Stop this madness! I own a onesies, it is a Totoro onesie. If I went out in that, I would be sectioned because people would think I had escaped from the psychiatric wing of a hospital.
This is the same as my onesie. Now you see why people would think this of me.
Totoro onesie

Close but no cigar, number 2

Red lipstick! Yes, red lipstick maybe sexy and sultry in the right hands but in the wrong hands, it's a disaster! There are many who believe that anyone can wear the rouge lipstick and resemble the sex symbol Marilyn Monroe but end up looking like the Joker. It is not for all. It pains me to see people wearing red lipstick when they can't pull it off. Ask a professional if you are unsure. Save yourself the embarrassment.

And the top offender, beating off the competition for the number 1 spot is....drum roll please....

SEE THROUGH LEGGINGS! Oh yes, boys and girls, we've all seen them. The infamous see through leggings favoured by teenage girls and chavs. My stomach turns at the thought of them. No one wants to see your granny pants, thongs or what you had for breakfast. Put yourself away and buy some new leggings or at the least, a long top. I love and loathe leggings in equal measures. Opaque leggings will have a place in my heart whereas see through leggings have their own special place in hell.
REBEL AGAINST THE INJUSTICE!

Do you have any fashion/beauty hates? Tell me about them in my comment box :)

Sorry if I have offended anyone but I am only speaking my mind.

Thanks for reading my loves.

Tearing s**t up

Hello my honeybears!

Probably a pretty bizarre title for this post really but I love tearing/cutting my clothes up. I have destroying my tshirts down to a fine art.

I hate tshirts that have really high necklines so they're proper choking around your throat. They make me really claustrophobic so I started 'customizing' my tops. I use that word lightly because I don't add anything on, I just rip stuff off.

I bought a Batman and Robin top from Triple S when I was like 14? Yea, round about then (that was 5 years ago btw) and the neckline was so high, I honestly thought I was choking and the sleeves were really tight so I looked like an over stuffed sausage.

The top and I were then alone in a room together and one thing led to another and....I cut the sleeves and neckline off. Oopsies!

It looked better tbh and I no longer felt as self conscious because I didn't think I was going to die.

I did all this like, 5 years ago and the top hasn't unravelled as of yet.

My thunder thighs and I were just being fabulous...darling
Batman and Robin tshirt - Triple S (many moons ago)
Jeans - Matalan - £12
Belt - Primark - £2 - I think
Peace Sign Earrings - Newlook - £2.99

Earrings - As Above

Closer look at my top
My hair looks slightly ginge here but I'm trying out Benefit's Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow in I'm Pure 4 Sure so my skin looks better (kinda) than normal. Full review when my other Benefit products arrive (SO EXCITED!).

Being Dumbo so you can all laugh at me.

I don't just massacre tshirts either. Old jeans and dresses are also victim to the scissors of doom. Nothing is safe!

Anyway, I'm currently in Huddersfield as I'm having 2 days off from my vet placement and I'm shattered so I'm off to chill and watch Doctor Who in bed.

Top Vlogs

Hello my honeybears!

We all know that Youtube is full, and I mean full, of vloggers doing make up, hair, clothes (etc) reviews and tutorials. As I have no life, I spend a lot of time on Youtube searching for my favourite vloggers and watching videos of animals.

Possibly one of my favourite videos :)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=18-xvIjH8T4

Anyway, so off track with my video of a slow loris. I have learnt from videos on line, how to do stuff like contour and put my hair in a bun ring (which was NOT on the packaging when I got one). I still suck at contouring but I'm getting better.

This is my top 5 vloggers. They're not in any particular order because I couldn't really decide who I liked more than who as they're all pretty awesome in their own way.

1) Laurenbeautyy
laurenbeautyy is a channel by the lovely Lauren Curtis. She really is lovely, she follows me on Twitter (whoop whoop). She's from Australia so some of the products she uses and reviews aren't available in the UK which sucks. Her tutorials are wonderful, there is something for pretty much everyone. I tried out one of her tutorials for my birthday meal and it looked brilliant. She's a beautiful girl and she's a great teacher. If you like smokey eyes or just want to perfect your blending (I've seen a few videos by her with smokey eyes) then she's your girl. http://www.youtube.com/user/laurenbeautyy

2) Saturdaynightsalrite
Karissa Pukas is awesome! Like, I can't even describe how much I love her twitter feed and her look books. She also likes Black Milk clothes so she's obviously a good egg. Her videos are pretty diverse as they range from TMI Tuesdays (which pretty much talks about things in life) to make up and hair tutorials. She has a video for everyone if I'm honest. She's well worth a look. http://www.youtube.com/user/saturdaynightsalrite

3) Shaaanxovlogs
I originally started subscribing to Shannon when she was planning a boob job abroad. I have issues with my body and I wanted to see what her experience was like so I subscribed. I don't regret it at all. Her clothes hauls and 'Getting Ready' videos are brilliant and gave me a lot of ideas for how to do my make up and hair when I go out and even items of clothing I can pair together (I normally think I'll just blend into the background in all black but now I find it can actually make a sexy ass outfit). http://www.youtube.com/user/shaaanxo/featured

4) The Beauty Bybel
The Beauty Bybel is by the gorgeous Carli Bybel. She actually has 2 channels 'The Beauty Bybel' and 'The Inner Beauty Bybel'. I am in love with her hair tutorial videos as she shows you how to get that uber sexy wavy hair that makes you look like you've just stepped off the catwalk. She also does lovely tutorials on eye make up, everything from dramatic to classy. On her Inner Beauty Bybel, Carli has a link to her boyfriend's channel which is really good if you're trying to lose weight (which I am) there's some great workouts that you can do in the comfort of your own home. http://www.youtube.com/user/CarliBel55/featured
http://www.youtube.com/user/InnerBeautyBybel

5) Grav3yardgirl
Grav3yardgirl or Bunny Meyer is a recent find of mine and I already completely love her. She's mad as a hatter with awesome style. If you want a giggle as you learn then she is honestly your perfect choice. She has pretty much the same style as me which I LOVE! She also does videos called 'Does this really work?' where she tests different items that claim to be able to do certain things that probably seem a little bit far fetched. Anyway, she is hilarious, I was peeing myself after watching the first 2 minutes of one of her videos. She is 100% worth your time.
http://www.youtube.com/user/grav3yardgirl

I follow all these lovely girls on Twitter and some on Facebook too so go and check them out. If you like them as much as I like them and decide to subscribe to their channel then give me a quick mention to tell where you heard about them ;) I'm a cheeky nout, eh?

I'm off to bed now anyway, work tomorrow and all that jazz plus I have a sore throat so I'm losing my voice and I feel a bit under the weather really.

Do the Truffle Shuffle

Hello my honeybears!

So, a few days ago I decided that, because I had money in my bank account, that I'd get myself a nice new tshirt. I like any kind of tshirts; fitted, baggy, mens etc.

I love the website Truffle Shuffle because it's kinda movie/tv related clothing. I have a couple of tshirts from them and a few accessories so I knew that they were reliable. All of the items I've bought from there are good quality and reasonably priced. With my most recent purchase, it was estimated that it would take 1 to 3 days to arrive with standard delivery. It came the day after I got a despatched notice. That is the service I like AND on the bottom of your delivery sheet, you are told which action hero packed your things. Mine was Wolverine.

This is my new tshirt, I wore this little outfit to a casual family party. Sorry for my gormless expression.
And here's me being happy!
Gremlins Tshirt - £12.99 from Truffle Shuffle

I also bought myself some new sunglasses because they were just the best things I've ever seen! I did actually edit this picture cos it was really bright.
Kitty sunglasses by Chelsea Doll - £11.99 from Truffle Shuffle

And here is my face. Enjoy.

Both my necklaces were presents.
My lipstick is one of my favourites.  Kate Moss' Lasting Finish Matte in 101 by Rimmel

That's all for tonight my loves :)

PINTEREST!

Hello my honeybears!

Pinterest is one of those sites that you probably see around on the side of your Facebook newsfeed and you just go 'meh, not fussed by this'. If you are one of these people, seriously, think again!

It took me a long time to get into it but now I LOVE IT! I have mainly fashion/beauty boards but I also have a wedding board. Every girl can dream about their perfect wedding, can't they?

I love planning out life on my boards or finding new makeup/hair ideas to try out.
It is a great place if you've got a special occasion coming up and you're lost for ideas for anything then this is honestly the best place you could visit for inspiration.

I also look on here for gift inspiration like little diy, personal gifts. There are a lot of 'how to' guides and step by step manuals to making different things so if you're ever stuck, give it a browse and get some inspiration.

I'll throw in a link to my Pinterest page so you can all have a nosey. Some of the boards are a bit sparse because I mainly look at wedding stuff. I love the romance!

That's all kids.

Durham City y'all

Hello my honeybears!

I'll apologise now for the dire quality of the pictures (a lot of flash and mirror shots) as they're taken on my phone because I can't get the correct camera angle on my digital camera and I'm not lucky enough to have one of the massively expensive professional cameras.

So last night, I was out in Durham City centre on a night out with friends. As I work all week and every Saturday, Saturday night is the only time I can let my hair down and I have, since my friends have got back from uni, been out almost every week. I'm getting a bit sick of it now but I rarely go out in Durham so it was a welcome change of scenery.

If you are ever in the North East of England. Pay a visit to Durham during the day, it's a gorgeous city.

Anyway, as my favourite asset of my body is my boobs, I nearly always go out with cleavage on show because why the hell not really.
I picked two dresses which I changed between a million times before going out.

The back on the right one isn't an open back, I just hadn't bothered to zip it up.
These are two of my favourite dresses ever! They are both from Missguided and they are both green (I love green) One is a bottle green whereas the other is a teal colour but I think it's leaning more towards the green than the blue side.

The bottle green (left) is a little bit too big for me as I've lost weight but it is soooo comfy and as it's got that little wrap cross front, it covers any stomach bloating or in my case, general belly fat. It does have quite a large open neck so I used boob tape to stop from fully exposing myself and just taped it to my bra. Boob tape is a girl's best friend in these situation.

The right one, which I ended up wearing, is fitted but not skin tight. It is rather short so I spent the night having to squat to pick things up. It perfectly frames your cleavage so the free drinks get racked up pretty quickly. It's not too tight that you feel like you're going to die but it's tight enough so that you feel comfortably 'sucked in' or it did me.

I honestly love both these dresses. If you are a dress or skirt person a la moi then Missguided.co.uk is the place for you. I am honestly on there at least once a day ogling dresses, playsuits, skirts etc.

Heels and cobbles don't mix so I put my roll up flatties on. But yea, this is me casually posing outside Cafe Nero.

To top the outfit off, I used my beautiful Missguided clutch bag with chain strap, I adore the shininess of it. I have included this bag in my Presents blog so if you want to see it in full, check it out on there or go and have a nosey on  www.missguided.co.uk , you might even find some items you fall head over heels for like ME! I decided to stick to the ocean colours (it is summer after all) by painting my nails this blue which is Barry M Gelly Hi Shine in Guava.

My heels were, as the boys say, 'lethal'. Literally. They were another eBay find. The one downside is that they do hurt if you accidently catch your leg on the spikes but otherwise, you look like one hot mama, strutting your stuff in some 'killer' heels.

I was naughty (hehe) and mixed my silver accessories with gold jewellery. Bad Josie, slap on the wrist for you. These earrings, again, are from Missguided. I mixed my spikes, gold with my silver. I've worn these so much that I've started to bend the backs of them. I think they'd actually look better in silver because I'm blonde, they obviously blend into the golden tones of my hair so silver would be more striking.

I have a spotty chest, sorry guys :( I also have a new freckle there too. This eye necklace was a 19th birthday present from one of my best friends, it's from Topshop. My birthday was in January so it's probably long gone. I love it, there's something spooky and mysterious about it. I love that little aspect of it.
There is my cleavage too. Hehe,

I sound like I've just advertised Missguided constantly through that post. I didn't mean to, I just like their clothes and accessories.

That's all then guys.

I'm bleeding out!

Yello my honeybears!
My post title seems a bit grim but it's because a) this was my casual go to outfit that was worn when I went to give blood and b) Imagine Dragons rule.

Anyway, this is a general casual look that I normally do when I cba to put much thought or effort into what I'm wearing.
I like funny things and interesting tops so several years ago I stumbled across Truffle Shuffle and I was in heaven! I bought what is still one of my favourite tshirts from there. My red Dodgeball 'if you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge a ball' quote top. It's so ridiculously comfortable and I've had it several years now with no colour fading/running, no lettering coming off, no loose threads. Completely fantastic. They have something for everyone.
My go to bottoms are leggings. I have some lovely, great quality and great fitting ones from George by Asda. 12 quid, erm BARGIN! They're super comfy and you can downplay statement pieces with a lovely pair of black leggings. BUT buy good quality! Noone wants to see your underwear as you're walking down the street because your leggings might as well be clear. It's horrible, right? If you've ever been stood under someone on an escalator and look up to see how far you've got then BOOM! Some random girl's (might as well be) bare backside in your face then you'll know the horrors of this.
That was massively off topic hehe. When I'm casual, I just let my hair do as it pleases. I'd had it in a bun and hairsprayed back all day for work when it was brushed through it looked better than normal.
I still went with the black eyeliner and black liquid eyeliner because I love framing my green eyes. It's always my main focus on a night out :)
Oh, I mentioned I went to give blood, right? They gave me 2 new accessories. I found that I couldn't give blood that day because they thought I was anemic so they took blood to see however, after stabbing me several times in my right arm and being unsuccessful at getting any, they tried the left. Turns out I'm not anemic but I came away with 2 lovely huge white plasters on my arms and a little one on my finger. Accessorizing at it's cheapest.
That's all anyway guys. Talk to you all on Saturday when I'll show you one of my many going out outfits.

PRESENTS!

Yello my honeybears!

I know I've posted already today BUT since today is my boyfriend's birthday, I got thinking about presents and things I want for Christmas or my birthday. They're so close together that I really struggle to think of things that I need or even want tbh so I've started just making list through the year.

I love getting presents, who doesn't? Even if you know what it is, you almost always get that lovely fluttery feeling in my stomach when you're tearing into the wrapping paper or opening the bag. I recently passed my driving test and, because my boyfriend and I have been together for almost a year, he decided to get me a present. I broke my last clutch bag on a night out (clumsy drunk) so he got me a new one.
I can't even explain how in love I am with this clutch bag. It goes with just about everything and it's so shiny. I'm like a magpie, sorry. It's so big that you can fix your purse, keys, essential make up, the kitchen sink into it and still have room. It also has a detachable hand strap and chain so you can use it as a clutch or use the chain or hand strap, I use the chain because I feel safer that way but it looks good with or without. It was almost 20 quid but seriously, it's well worth the money as it has no magnet that could become detached and leave you open to pick pockets, it's a zip close so everything is safe and sound.
Clutch bag - Missguided.com - £19.99

I really like Lord of the Rings and Star Wars and most things quirky (hence why I bought a replica 'One Ring') so when I found a website that sells Star Wars and Lord of the Rings dresses and leggings, I was over the moon! Everything is a little pricey but seriously, I'm yet to see someone complain about the quality. Here are a few of my favourites:
 R2D2 body suit
 R2DR and C3PO leggings
Witch King leggings - All blackmilk.com

I could just post the website link because, tbh, I love E.V.E.R.Y.T.H.I.N.G. The witch king leggings are on my anniversary list and the others are on my Christmas and birthday list (if I haven't been able to buy one in the mean time). If you are a lover of quirky clothes then this and Etsy are perfect places to shop.

So, if anyone feels like they've got too much money to cope with then you can always buy me one of these :)

I'll be off to bed now guys,

Summer has finally arrived!

Yes, you heard it here first people. Summer has arrived in the UK, for the week at least but since I've finished work and the sun is still shining, I thought I'd make the most of it.

This is my general summer look, it's probably like 99% of the female populations because it is actually so ridiculously basic, it's a fail safe.

Sorry for the shit quality of pictures btw, I have to take them on my phone because I a) don't have a 'professional' camera a.k.a an extremely expensive one and b) it makes me look like I'm orange when really, I have the skin colour of a redhead (very, very pale)

Denim shorts with a vest, or bandeau top in my case, are a classic! You can't go wrong really unless you have, like me, escaping fat that make me just shake your head in disgrace.
I adore this top. I got it out of a magazine when I was like 12 and because I'm a massive squirrel and struggle to throw stuff away, I still had it when I got boobs (yes, that wonderful time in life). My denim shorts are actually way too big for me hence why they look so odd at the front, there's on the tightest notch of my belt. I bought them off eBay and tbh, they're amazing. 18 quid for Levi shorts? Erm, YES PLEASE! It was my own stupid fault for not measuring myself properly before ordering them so I can't fault the company. They're amazing and I would honestly get more if I hadn't spent my last 18 quid on a cat dress (I regret nothing!)

Ahaha, my eyebrows look sooooo wonky! I always wear black eyeliner, liquid and kohl, no matter the weather. I use both the Rimmel exaggerate waterproof eye definer in black and the Maybelline New York master precise eye liner pen. I prefer eye liner pens because they are far more precise and I don't end up with my eye liner covering most of my eyelid, it's happened to us all at some point and, lets face it, it's so annoying having to redo it all over again. I recently got a Barry M eye shadow pencil in Gold Cream to make my eyes look bigger, it does the trick but it doesn't sit nicely and starts to look a bit bobbly.
Aviators are the coolest sun glasses ever. I love sun glasses and I have a lovely selection from big WAG style glasses which make me look like a fly to my favourite mirrored Aviators. I seriously worry about my eye sight so whenever it's sunny I have to get my sunnies out just to protect my peepers from any damage the sun might cause them.
My hair is in awful condition atm. It needs a good cut and dye job because it just looks horrible. I do normally try and go for the 'beachy waves' look but it didn't quite take this time and ended up looking like a frizz ball.

Lord of the Rings replica ring from eBay
Wing style ring from a vintage/retro store in Durham city centre.

I love accessories. If my outfit is plain, like this one, I add some unique accessories that will add some flavour to the entire thing. That way, it stands out and doesn't seem so drab and boring.

I'll say this now, if you've bothered to read all of this. I LOVE EBAY! There's so many companies on eBay that do amazing stuff for cheap. I have clothes, accessories even full make up brush sets from companies on eBay and when they're from like China and that, there's normally FREE DELIVERY! How can you go wrong?! Answer: You can't/

Wey, that was my outfit yesterday.
Hope I've converted you to the ways of the wonderful eBay.

Toodles my honeybears.

Thursday, 4 July 2013

I just came to say hello!

Yello my honey bears!

I'm Josie, I'm a 19 year old veterinary nursing student and I have no professional experience in beauty or fashion. I am an ordinary girl like everyone else so I will give my honest opinion on everything I try, no matter what it is and how much it kills me.

I love quirky things. My fashion sense normally consists of jeans/leggings and a tshirt, not very adventurous I know but I do live in Durham (North of England for those who don't know, near Newcastle). When I feel like I've worn jeans or leggings too much, normally after 2 days, I make myself get done up; pretty dress/skirt, quirky top, make up on, hair done then pow pow pow! Looking like a proper girl again.
I always feel the need to add something Geordie Shore related cos everyone normally jumps at the fact I'm from that area. Being from around there, I obviously like a good drink so long lasting, waterproof makeup will probably be a big thing I review.
I'm currently on the search for new tattoo and new skin stuff so drop me a question or just say hi and I shall be back in a day or two.
